The advantages of Box Gardening over conventional row & furrow:

Many city gardeners do not have the space for traditional row & furrow gardens. Box gardening by the foot allows the small space gardener to only grow exactly what and how many vegetables they need. Instead of planting a row of cabbages, you only need to plant one cabbage per square foot and another cabbage 2 weeks later and so on. That principle applies to all vegetables. Instead of planting the whole package of seeds at once so that they all mature at once, the principle of square foot gardening is: sequential planting in small amounts every 2-3 weeks so that you harvest a few each week over the entire season instead of all at once.
